  § Chris & Winnie: Scarsdale, NY Engagement Pictures / Westchester Wedding Photography

 at  { 6 comments }

Chris and Winnie braved the frigid weather last weekend when we got together to capture a few engagement pictures of them around Scarsdale, NY.  I am so excited to be a part of their wedding day – so gentle, kind, caring, down-to-Earth, and passionate for each other.  Their wedding reception at the Coveleigh Club in Rye, NY is sure to be a blast.

In his defense, he had ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE…

We popped into the church where they are getting married… CUTE!

Like anything of real quality, the longer you have something and the more you use it, the more you learn to enjoy it and appreciate it for all that it is. So far today has been a day of slowing down… today Diana and I are taking a moment to breath and enjoy having each other close to the other because sometimes it doesn’t always happen that way.

  § Bergen Health & Fitness / Bergenfest 2009 / The Estate at Florentine Gardens / New Jersey Event Photography

 at  { 1 comments }

Last fall I was asked by my good friend Anthony Quintano of Quintano Media to capture some images of the 2009 Bergenfest in Bergen County, NJ which would be used in their November/Deceber issue of their Bergen Health and Fitness magazine.  Along side Anthony were his awesome assistants, his lovely wife, and Emmy Award winning Chuck Goslin of Jibs of New York all capturing video of the event which was held at The Estate at Florentine Gardens. Restaurants, Bakeries, landscapers, vineyards, performing artists and many other businesses were in attendance to make the evening fun and enjoyable for everyone.

Check out their magazine here.  Images taken of the event can be found on pages 22 and 50-58

Check out this awesome video by Quintano Media of the evening’s event.

Each year I set a number of goals for myself… some come to fruition and some don’t.  This year I have decided that I am going run every day for one year… 365 days of running. Despite all things that may knock me off course, I a determined to make it happen.  I will document each run with one photo from my Blackberry (or hopefully iPhone if Apple/Verizon get their act together) and post it to Jake Runs 365.  And before you ask, yes the photos have been color changed in photoshop.

I have to say, as the site has grown, I think my favorite part is the ARCHIVE PAGE and I am psyched to see what it looks like with 365 different photos.

Check out this video if you are interested in really making your own goals a success.

  § Meaningful Photographs

 at  { 5 comments }

I was recently going through a file I had on an external hard drive and found a few meaningful photos of my younger brother while he was serving in Iraq.  A journalist had gone on some of the missions with them to document their journeys and captured these two images that I will cherish forever. I pray the next time I feel pressure to get “the shot” that I remember what it’s truly like to be a war-time photographer and all they go through. I wish I could meet the man who captured these of Zack to shake his hand and say thank you.

To those brave men and women who serve our country in the military, THANK YOU! You are not forgotten, nor will you ever.

*DISCLAIMER* — I DID NOT TAKE THE FOLLOWING PHOTOGRAPHS. AN UNKNOWN JOURNALIST DID.

  § Portrait photographs for Baby Powers / Upstate, NY

 at  { 0 comments }

I recently made the trip home to visit and take a few portraits my best friend Thaddeus and his beautiful family to repay him for the fantastic functional ceramic art that he creates and gives to me to give to all of you as prizes.  His work is truly inspirational and unique and I feel blessed to have a few of his pieces adorning my home.  Baby Powers is handsome and has a ton of personality, even at such a young age and I look forward to seeing him grow up into a fine young man.

  § Stephen and Madeleine: Westchester Wedding

 at  { 0 comments }

Stephen and Madeleine had a picture perfect wedding day in Westchester… the weather was great, the Fordham Church where Stephen attended college during his Undergrad was beautiful, the reception venue was beautiful.  I love photographing weddings in Weschester County where I live… and this wedding was even that much more special as both Stephen and Madeleine are friends of my wife and myself.  And having other friends at the wedding made it extra fun to be there capturing fabulous images.

By the way, I have to give a HUGE shout-out to NICOLE TAYLOR for stepping in last minute for this wedding.  She did it on a last minutes notice because someone else backed out last minute.  THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Check out this HOTTIE!

I present, Mrs. Nicole Taylor!!!

So much has been going on lately that I haven’t had a chance to post what I am up to. Currently, I am finishing up with some awesome wedding photographs for Stephen and Madeleine who had their wedding in Westchester County. Last weekend, I shot a fabulous Hartford, CT wedding for Adam and Meaghan at the beautiful and elegant Society Room, as well as an intimate wedding in Somers, NY for Anthony and Debbie. Stay tuned for more images.
