Over the last year, my hobby turned into a business; one that could possibly turn full time. My passion has grown, my experience has skyrocketed, and my appreciation of the craft has been taken to an indescribable level. This hobby/profession has brought me so much joy; I feel it is time to start sharing my joy with others. So I have teamed up with other great photographers to give back as well as venturing into my own territory.
The first is A Portrait House: A fund raising event for Habitat for Humanity
The second is Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep: A charity that provides families who have sick children with free portraits.
But sometimes it just takes a small push from a friend to put your own ideas into action. Having a brother who served in Iraq brought a great appreciating for our Armed Services and especially the ones serving abroad. I know the heartache and personal struggle having my brother be away for Christmas, birthdays and other important holidays. So, in the giving spirit, I will be giving away 4 FREE FAMILY PORTRAIT SESSIONS to families who have a father, mother, son, or daughter serving overseas defending our Nation. Congrats to the KCHS Cross Country runners who won awards for their performances this year. Below are the 8×10 photo awards they won (kind of Dave Hill-ish???)

I recently learned that I live five minutes from someone I graduated with. The power of networking sites like Facebook and MySpace can bring old friends back in touch. She was an artist who graduated from one of the top art schools in the country and her art was always superior to others around her; interesting, fun, beautiful. So where is she now? She works for Ana Shea, as a graphic designer, chocolate designer and in store setup artist.
Yesterday, I stopped in to visit with her for the first time since reconnecting…Of course I HAD to try some. Be aware, this isn’t HERSHEY’S and it certainly costs a pretty penny…BUT OH, IS IT WORTH IT!!!
