  § Kicking Off Summer Vacation

 at  { 4 comments }

The academic school year ended for me as a teacher yesterday and I couldn’t think of too many ways (other than spending the day with my wonderful wife doing all of the fun things she could come up with) than to shoot a wedding on this beautiful day with the (in)famous Tania Sones.  Stay tuned for a few pics tomorrow.

Another Vintage NoDo Photo.  This one is of me in Second Grade when I was 6.  I did my best to sport the Michael J. Fox haircut and preppy tie.  What can I say, I must have watched his movies a billion times?

I am super psyched to introduce you to the new NoDo Photography website. It’s up now and new images will be coming to the website next week.  Check it out now… spend hours (well maybe not hours) perusing through what I have up.

  § A note to brides

This is the kind of thing that cracks (most) photographers up… This was the label on an envelope I received today.

Thanks Shannon, it made my day!

Package arrived via my brother-in-law with the following contents.

Zack (my brother that passed away three years ago) would have DIED (no pun intended) to play this game.  He loved the Metal Gear Solid series and the graphics on the current one are SICK!
Thanks Chris for the belated birthday present… the card rocked too!

PS… this is not the early week surprise… I am experiencing a hold up.  But I will be sure to let you know as soon as it is here!

  § Kicking myself

 at  { 8 comments }

Yesterday my wife, her parents and I went to the the Rhinebeck Arts and Crafts Festival and I made the stupid mistake of leaving my camera at home. There aren’t many times I leave it at home that I kick myself, but I did yesterday. If you have the chance to go today, it’s certainly worth the trip. Just be sure to bring your check book because this isn’t your run-of-the-mill fair. The best artists in the Northeast show up with some pretty amazing work! Nature photographers like Jasper James and others were in attendance (that link is for you, Jody!)

After we got home, I made some tasty white bread to go with the maple cream I purchased at the fair.

(This was my mother’s Kitchen Aid mixer… it’s more than 20 years old and some of the tastiest food has been made using it)
After the dough is kneaded, time and patience in a warm place is crucial
The secret to perfect baguettes… this pan and a steam bath of boiling water on the rack below the bread.
I reap the fruits of my labor

  § Mad Max (The Terrier)

 at  { 9 comments }

There hasn’t been much to blog about lately since I have been in over my head with grading. I do have a HUGE surprise coming before Monday that has me really excited… so check back soon for more.

Here is a photo of my sister’s dog, Max, that I took when I went home for Memorial day weekend. He sure is a terror (I mean Terrier). I would have posted this earlier, but I forgot I even took it.

  § Meaghan and Dan's E-Session

 at  { 11 comments }

Yesterday, I headed up to Poughkeepsie to shoot Meaghan and Dan’s engagement session before their wedding next month.  We started out on the river front, went to the FDR Estate, hopped over to the Vanderbilt Estate, and finished the day with a tasty lunch at the EXTREMELY popular Eveready Diner.  I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to be shooting their wedding next month at the Links at Union Vale (and not just because the UBER COOL photographer Megan LaBarbara will be shooting with me)!

  § Update:

 at  { 1 comments }

A quick update for you blog-o-sphere readers:  I have been really busy wrapping up the school year and taking care of some business stuff on the back-end…. sorry for the lack of posts and pictures.

I shot an e-session today with pictures that should be up tomorrow, but in the mean time, here is a GEM that my wonderful wife pointed out to me today.   Thank you, Diana.
Look closely, there are two rainbows.

  § Mac related stuff

 at  { 4 comments }

For you Mac users, I found interesting computer program on the Apple website that runs your screensaver as your desktop background.  You can set any screensaver including your itunes artwork and any downloaded screensaver.  The program is called Wallsaver.

Here is a screenshot from my laptop.  I generally don’t run this when I am doing photo work on my desktop computer since it takes up precious graphics RAM.

Interested, get yours HERE

  § So I "forgot" to mention it was my birthday…

 at  { 6 comments }

I am not usually a boastful guy, but I have to make an exception this once.  My wife… is AWESOME!  About two weeks ago we went to her friend Steven’s house and I “showed” her how much better BluRay is over a regular DVD.  I think I saw a twinkle in her eye, but that might have been the reflection from my eyes in hers.  I would like to think it wasn’t the latter, but hey…

So on a recent trip to The Westchester (for those of you from CT that have never been… it’s HEAVEN and worth the trip) we stopped in the Sony store and priced out a BluRay player.  Kind of odd that they are the same price as a PS3 that has a BR player in it which is what we (I mean I) decided would be best since it is more versatile.   After coming out of ticket price shock, I gave up hope on having one in the near future but continued to bug her every time she asked the question “what do you want for your birthday?”  I know, I know… I will get to that later.
To make a long story short, she kept asking and I kept teasing… RELENTLESSLY without hope of getting one.  New Oakleys maybe, but certainly not a PS3.  So what did she get me?

Not only that, but she also told her mother, brother and my father what she was getting me so they could coordinate. How awesome is she!!!

This morning as I was sitting in my leather Pottery Barn chair watching Casino Royal (one of my top ten favorite movies, btw) on my Samsung 1080p HDTV and PS3 sipping my Starbucks coffee that was brewed in my Cuisinart On-Demand coffee maker and thinking; “could my life get any more enjoyable right now?”   (NOPE)

My friends will ask the question; “Why didn’t you tell us it was your birthday?” The answer is simple… this year I turn 28. There isn’t much special about 28. I guess I just wanted it to slip quietly into the night.

—————————— Below is not for the faint of heart————————–

After noticing that I was posting the above information, she told me to write an update regarding her black and blue fingernail.  Well, it fell off yesterday and she thought you might like to see… YUMMM!
